The landscape of Wales is changing. As a nation we need to transform in a number of areas to meet the challenges we face. The creation of a digital economy, better public services for its citizens and a thriving digital community needs to be built on a digital backbone. This will range from developing and attracting first class talent, building a shared national IT infrastructure and creating a culture that allows change to flourish.
As a nation we’re small enough to be radical in our thinking to delivering those public services that are devolved to Welsh Government, but we’re also big enough to carry the torch. We have the opportunity to transform the way in which public services are delivered and to share and export that knowledge, skill and experience across the world. There’s no reason that we shouldn’t be at the forefront of delivering better public services, harnessing ‘digital’ to do that. Our contribution to a recent external expert panel report for Welsh Government sets out the actions we believe are needed to make this happen.
The government in Wales has been forward thinking in terms of using legislation to drive transformation. Creating ambitious new laws and policies such as the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act and Better Jobs Closer to Home initiative is providing the momentum for change. At Perago-Wales we want to help support the development of first class talent, building of a shared national IT infrastructure and creation a culture that allows change to flourish.
As a business based in Wales we have a stake in that vision and a belief in an ambition for Wales to be at the forefront of digital innovation. We believe developing a national roadmap is the difference between showing you’re listening to people’s needs and knowing what to do with what you hear. We want to continue to deliver against this agenda.
